Incomplete: 2a-[...] (20; 2a-m-Nwn ? see Remarks)
Remarks: Provenance: note that many of the Strasbourg ostraca were excavated by J.E. Quibell in the Ramesseum in 1895-1896 and given to the Bibliothèque Nationale et Universitaire by W.M. Flinders Petrie in 1918 (Koenig, Ostraca Strasbourg , 1; Spiegelberg, ZÄS 58 (1923), 25, note 4). Date(s) attributed: in view of the names certainly end dyn. 19; applying the criteria set forth by Janssen, Village Varia , 103-105, would point to a date between his groups A and B, i.e. the later years of Seti II (Demaree). Contents: the list contains names of workmen of the right side under chief workman 1Ay . Names, Titles: for names in lines 18-20, cf. O. DeM 612 lines 7-11; hence possibly 2a-m-Nwn in line 20. In line 18 the last sign of the name 2a-m-sbA.w is to be read as plural strokes and not sA n . Line 19: S. Allam, WdO 30 (1999), 143 reads Any-nxt sA 1Ay but this is not supported by the photograph and (again) the parallel name-list in O. DeM 612 lines 7-11. According to Allam, the dots after the names are checkmarks and not parts of women's name determinatives.
