Description: | Light brown papyrus sheet, 20 x 21 cm. The recto (V/H) bears 12 lines and the verso (H/V) 9 lines in black ink. Top recto = bottom verso. Damaged; on the recto a large fragment at the upper right-hand corner, a small fragment at the lower right-hand corner and a small strip at the right edge are missing; several gaps as a result of folding; beginnings of recto 1-5, 11-12 and verso 1-3 and 6 lost; text partially incomplete in recto lines 1-7, 9 and 11-12, and verso lines 1-3, 5-6. A sheet join is discernible between lines 8 and 9 of recto. The letter had been folded: twelve folds can be recognized. Palimpsest. Address, if any, lost. |

Contents: | Incomplete letter, sent/dictated probably by the prophet Imn-Htp but written by Bw-th-Imn , to the necropolis scribe 9Hwty-ms (see Remarks). The sender denies not having written letters before, refers to his close friendship with the addressee and sends his best wishes, in an addendum likewise to other men in the company of 9Hwty-ms . |
