Description: | Papyrus sheet, 29 x 22 cm. Damaged. Broken into 12 horizontal strips. A sheet join is visible at 6 cm. from the bottom of the recto. Recto V/H, verso H/V. Top recto = bottom verso. In black ink 16 lines of writing on the recto and 20 lines (including address) on the verso. The scribe started with bold writing, but reaching the bottom of the recto gradually changed into smaller writing.The beginning of the recto is 2.5 cm from the upper border, the blank space being filled with an additional remark in 3 lines, written much smaller than the letter itself. Address at the bottom of the verso. The document shows several holes and has some damage at the borders, causing loss of text in several lines. Correction by the scribe in note on recto line 1. |

Contents: | The necropolis scribe Bw-th-Imn writes to his father 9Hwty-ms, who is in the south, regarding agricultural matters, care of family members, a certain woman of Thebes, an amulet (Red Crown) and problems with mail delivery. Further he sends greetings to several people who are with his father, a.o. urging them to watch over him because he is a sick man. A separate note at the top of the recto concerns the delivery and payment of 17 spears. |
